Harry Kane’s glowing praise of Christian Eriksen in the London Evening Standard should put some doubt into Daniel Levy’s mind over selling the Tottenham Hotspur playmaker.

The Times today claim that Levy is open to selling Eriksen for £50 million before the end of the month.

However, the Dane was in brilliant form after coming off the bench on the opening day of the season, as he helped Spurs pick up three points.

Eriksen entered the field with Tottenham losing 1-0 to Villa, but quickly turned the game on its head, and Mauricio Pochettino’s side ended up comfortable winners.

After the match Kane only had praise for Eriksen, and admitted that he is happy that the playmaker is still at White Hart Lane currently.

“I’ve been playing with Chris now for five or six years and we all know the qualities he has: the assists, the passes, the goals,” Kane said.

“Whether he starts or is on the bench, the most important thing from all of our points of view is that he gives everything for the team

“Obviously there’s been speculation about his future but as long as he’s training hard and playing as hard as he can when he’s here, that’s all we can ask for. What will be will be but we’re happy to have him.”

Levy now has a huge decision to make over Eriksen’s future, and Kane’s praise of the 27-year-old doesn’t make things any easier.

Kane is Tottenham’s most vital player, and losing his most regular supplier of assists could affect his performances.

But, with Eriksen’s contract running down, Spurs do risk losing him on a free if they keep him around for another season.

Pochettino has now openly stated his desire to win silverware this term, and Eriksen’s inclusion in Tottenham’s squad would increase his chances of achieving that aim.

And Levy must ask himself whether losing out on a £50 million fee is a gamble worth taking, in the hope of aiding Tottenham’s chances of lifting the Premier League or Champions League in May.
