Could goal convince Pochettino to give N’Koudou second Tottenham chance?

Georges-Kevin N’Koudou scored his first goal for Tottenham on Wednesday night.

Mauricio Pochettino will have been mightily impressed with a number of his fringe stars as Tottenham Hotspur earned a comfortable Champions League victory over APOEL Nicosia on Wednesday night.

Fernando Llorente and Georges-Kevin N’Koudou scored their first goals for the north Londoners against Giorgos Donis’ side in Group H of the elite competition, which saw Spurs finish the group stage unbeaten with five wins and one draw.

Son Heung-Min also scored for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, and now the Argentine boss will have a number of selection headaches ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash against Stoke City.

His current first-team stars are faltering after picking up just two points from a possible 12, which has seen them lose to Arsenal and Leicester City while only drawing with West Bromwich Albion and Watford.

The likes of Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Moussa Sissoko have all struggled to produce the kind of form they are capable of and it should convince Pochettino to hand a chance to some of Wednesday night’s stars.

Could that see the former Southampton boss give a spectacular recall to 22-year-old speed machine N’Koudou, after appearing to be completely frozen out by the Spurs manager at the start of the season?

The Frenchman has made almost no impact since moving to north London from Marseille in the summer of 2016 for a reported fee of £10.8million, making just 22 appearances in all competitions since his transfer.

But Wednesday night’s outing seemed to show a rejuvenated N’Koudou who has added maturity to a style of play that previously relied upon his pace. It is as though his time with Tottenham has made him become more of an intelligent player.

Although he has frustrated many on the terraces of both Wembley and White Hart Lane, surely it is time to give N’Koudou a proper go in the Premier League when Spurs’ other stars are struggling to find their form?
