Trevor Sinclair fears that West Ham United will regret selling Grady Diangana to West Bromwich Albion, telling talkSPORT (2 September, 12:00pm) that the winger can ‘go to the very top’.

For many Hammers supporters, the prospect of Jarrod Bowen lining up alongside England U21 international Diangana in a new-look front line is nothing short of exhilarating.

The former has made a real impression since moving to London from Hull City in January, while the latter is catching the eye in pre-season after an outstanding loan spell at West Brom.

It looked for all the world that Diangana would be given a run in the first-team by David Moyes in 2020/21, with the Scot putting his faith in young, hungry talents with their best years ahead of them.

But it seems the chance to sell an academy graduate for a £17 million profit was simply too good to turn down.

The Express and Star reports that West Brom have had a bid accepted and, with various add-ons and bonuses included, the 21-year-old could soon become the most expensive signing in Baggies history.

So while the deal makes sense from a financial perspective for West Ham, Sinclair wonders whether this is an agreement the London giants will one day come to regret.

“I think he’s won a few fans over (during his performances in pre-season),” says the West Ham legend.

“Last season, at West Brom, has was superb, he really enjoyed being a part of the first time. A superbly successful season.

“He has come back and has won a few fans over already, he’s done really well. I think (West Ham) want him to stay. If they do sell I’d like to think they would get a sell-on clause because he could go to the very top.”

Diangana produced eight goals and six assists for West Brom, humiliating full-backs aplenty with a remarkable array of skills that would not look out of place on a YouTube freestyle montage.

He certainly enjoyed a better season than Felipe Anderson, the big-money Brazilian who flattered to deceive in the left-wing position that Diangana could have made his own at West Ham.
