Glasgow Rangers were reportedly interested in bringing Glen Kamara to Ibrox during the summer.

Steven Gerrard, Manager of Rangers looks on during the Scottish Premier League match between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park Stadium on September 2, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Regardless of their opponent’s record, Rangers will be looking to get back to winning ways in their first game following the international break having lost for the first time under Steven Gerrard last time out.

When you factor in that the Gers’ opponents, Dundee have lost all four of their Scottish Premiership games this term, it appears that the Light Blues should win and win emphatically at Ibrox.

But the Dee have received a potential boost ahead of the game with the Evening Telegraph reporting that Glen Kamara is in contention to feature having made decent progress in his recovery from an ankle injury.

The midfielder enjoyed a superb first season with the club so getting him back fit for the game will provide Neil McCann’s men with a huge lift – and given some reports during the summer, Rangers will be more than aware of how great a boost it will be for their opponents if he does play.

The Sun reported in April that Rangers were keen on signing the £1 million-rated Finland international, with Celtic and Swansea City also amongst his list of admirers.

The move would obviously not take place and Rangers would end the window with a large group of quality midfielders. There has been no indication thus far therefore, that suggests that the Gers missed a trick in not getting Kamara.

But if the 22-year-old shines this weekend and helps his side pull off an upset, then perhaps Rangers will be left to kick themselves slightly that they did not do more to get him through the Ibrox door.
