Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after the Daily Mail revealed that John Stones and Aymeric Laporte are set to miss the trip to Anfield.

What’s the story?

Well, the Reds welcome Manchester City to Anfield on Sunday October 3rd, and Jürgen Klopp has received a small boost with this news.

Laporte is currently struggling with issues involving his groin and hip, while the Daily Mail believe Stones has a muscular problem.

The pair are set to be absent for two weeks, meaning they are extremely unlikely to be ready to take on Liverpool.

If they fail to recover, Pep Guardiola isn’t in that much of a mess.

The Spaniard can still call upon his £64.3m Premier League Player of the Season Ruben Dias, as well as Nathan Ake, who cost the Citizens £40m.

Nevertheless, it’s a bonus for Liverpool regardless.

Last season, Manchester City embarrassed Liverpool.

They finished 17 points above the Reds, and also hammered them 4-1 at Anfield on their way to the Premier League title.

Of course, Klopp had plenty of injuries to deal with, but the defence of the Premier League title was an absolute nightmare.

Whoever wins this early six-pointer could well be lifting the title at the end of the season – it’s an absolutely huge game.

For now, let’s see what the Liverpool fans on Twitter have been saying about Stones and Laporte…
