Some Leeds United fans on social media have been reacting after the Premier League announced that they wouldn’t be releasing their players for international duty if they have to travel to a red list country.

This is amid ongoing restrictions on international travel due to coronavirus, and while this decision has been taken in the interest of health and safety, it’s hard not to feel sorry for some of these players.

One man who has been affected by this announcement is Leeds United’s Raphinha.

The winger was due to get his first-ever call-up for the Brazil national team after a wonderful 12 months at Elland Road, but he’s now been denied the opportunity to represent his country for the first time.

Representing your national team for the first time is one of the proudest moments any footballer will ever have, but now, Raphinha will have to wait for the chance to play for Brazil.

Luckily, at the age of just 24, the winger should get plenty of other chances to play for the five-time World Cup winners, but this setback is certainly gutting for the player, and also for the fans who have been championing him for such a long time.

Here’s what Leeds fans have been saying on social media…
