Leeds United duo Liam Bridcutt and Charlie Taylor are said to interest Middlesbrough and Garry Monk.

Leeds United could use Middlesbrough and Garry Monk to help them finance a move for Jonny Howson.

Monk is said to be keen on a reunion with a number of players who he worked with at Elland Road.

And near the top of his transfer wishlist at Middlesbrough are Charlie Taylor and Liam Bridcutt (Gazette).

Leeds Bridcutt

Leeds are set to lose Taylor this summer, with the defender’s contract expiring, and Bridcutt could also be potentially available.

And if Monk does want the pair, then Leeds should consider selling them both to bring in a transfer which would reinvigorate the Elland Road crowd.

Leeds were said to be looking to sign Howson from Norwich City earlier in the summer (TeamTalk), in a rumoured transfer which caused great excitement (HITC), but no move has materialised yet.

Howson broke through at Leeds and remains a very popular figure at the Yorkshire club.

And if the Whites did have to sacrifice both Bridcutt and Taylor to get Howson back, then that should be seen as a very acceptable trade.

Bridcutt and Taylor are both capable Championship players, but Howson could be real talisman if he was to return to Elland Road.

And with Leeds fans still needing to be fully enthused for the new campaign, after the surprise appointment of Thomas Christiansen, now could be the perfect time for the Whites to bid to bring Howson back.
