Celtic had Filip Benkovic on loan from Leicester City and he impressed at Parkhead.

Filip Benkovic of Celtic is injured during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premier League between Celtic and at Ibrox Stadium on December 29, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

According to the Telegraph, Filip Benkovic could be made available for loan again in January by Leicester City, as he has failed to break into their starting line-up since returning from Celtic.

Benkovic impressed at Parkhead last term, where he played regularly for Celtic.

However, Brendan Rodgers has favoured Jonny Evans and Caglar Soyuncu as his defensive partnership this term.

Leicester could now reportedly aim to get Benkovic more game time out on loan, and that will surely throw up question marks over whether he could return to Celtic.

The Croatian was such an important part of Celtic’s team last term, and he would surely still have a part to play if he was to return.

Christopher Jullien has generally done well since moving to Celtic, and a potential partnership with Benkovic would surely be exciting for Celtic fans.

Benkovic would offer the Bhoys another calming influence at the back, and would make Neil Lennon’s side even harder to beat.

Whether Leicester would want Benkovic to go back to Scotland or would be more keen for him to get game time at a lower Premier League side remains to be seen.

But if the deal is a possibility, then Celtic would be wise to explore it, as Benkovic could be a fine addition to their squad in January.
