Former Leeds United midfielder Toumani Diagouraga could be on the move in January, and that may perhaps help the Whites.
When Toumani Diagouraga joined Leeds during Steve Evans’ tenure, it seemed a smart move for the Whites with the Frenchman a consistent performer at Championship level – though many accepted that the midfielder was unlikely to be the kind of marquee addition that would inspire the side into the play-off picture on his own.
Unfortunately for the 30-year-old, his spell at Elland Road did not exactly capture the imagination, with Diagouraga featuring once for the club following Garry Monk’s appointment in the summer of 2016. He spent the latter stages of his spell with the Whites on loan with Ipswich Town before departing in the summer and ending up at Home Park.
But perhaps Diagouraga may be about to hand his old side a boost in the January transfer market as he considers his next move.
Should he join the latter, perhaps it would not be out of the question to suggest that that may just boost Leeds’ chances of landing one of their reported transfer targets.
As good as Vela has been, the Bolton hierarchy may perhaps feel that selling him for a fee and replacing him with Diagouraga may be a smart piece of business if it ends up happening, and thus, may be more willing to listen to offers for the 23-year-old.
So perhaps if Diagouraga heads to the Macron Stadium and Leeds end up winning the race for Vela off the back of that, the Whites will have one of their former midfielders to partially thank for paving the way for a deal to happen.
