Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Bayern Munich winger Douglas Costa, so perhaps a former Arsenal man may have boosted their chances of signing him.
Serge Gnabry has completed a move to Bayern Munich
Tottenham fans may not initially be that bothered about the news coming from BBC Sport that Bayern Munich have signed former Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry following his sensational season in the Bundesliga, but perhaps it could hand Spurs’ own transfer hopes a boost.
The Daily Mirror reported back in April that Tottenham were keen on signing Douglas Costa from the Bavarian giants, and were even considering spending £30 million trying to get a deal done, so perhaps it would be fair to suggest that Gnabry’s arrival at the Allianz Arena could help push the Brazilian just a little bit closer to the exit.

The Mirror suggested that Costa was unhappy with Bayern and was looking to move on, so perhaps the fact that they have now added another wide-man to their ranks suggests that they would be happy for the 26-year-old to move on during the coming months.
Although the path to his signature may be slightly clearer, it remains to be seen whether Tottenham are still interested in pursuing a deal given that Costa did not enjoy the best season in Germany, or whether they can win the race to sign him if they are still keen.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk man scored four and contributed three assists in the top flight in the most recent campaign, but demonstrated a lot more quality the year before, boasting the same tally of goals, but also providing nine assists in the Bundesliga.
And if Tottenham do decide to make a move and subsequently manage to bring Costa to North London, perhaps it will be reflected upon as being Gnabry’s switch that helped pave the way for a move away to be given the green light.
