The report has also claimed that Gomes has interest from other clubs, and that the 25-year-old Portugal international central midfielder’s agent and intermediaries have been holding talks with interested parties.

Missing out?

Gomes joined Everton on loan from Barcelona in the summer of 2018 and has been playing well for the Toffees this season.

The midfielder is popular among the Goodison Park faithful, but it seems that Everton officials have to hurry up if they want to sign him on a permanent contract in the summer of 2019.

Gomes may have struggled to make an impact at Barcelona, but the Portuguese midfielder was a success during his time at Valencia.

While one can understand why Everton are reportedly waiting to make a formal approach for Gomes – after all, there are still a fair few weeks left in the season – but with the midfielder reportedly having other clubs interested in him, the Toffees could miss out on him.
