Could Everton’s move for Gylfi Sigurdsson collapsing turn out to be bad news for West Ham?

Everton were once linked with West Ham United’s Manuel Lanzini.

According to a report in the Telegraph, Everton’s deal for Swansea City’s Gyfli Sigurdsson is in danger of collapsing and that could be bad news for West Ham United.

Everton are known to be looking for a number 10, and if they are unable to get a deal for Sigurdsson over the line, then Ronald Koeman’s side’s attention may turn elsewhere.

At the start of the transfer window, Everton were said to have an interest in signing West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini by the Daily Mirror.

It turned out that Sigurdsson became Ronald Koeman’s side’s top target, but if no deal can be agreed, Lanzini could come back on to the Toffees radar.

Although West Ham will be determined to keep hold on Lanzini, Everton have managed to do some very smart business so far this summer and they are backed with funds.

And the last thing West Ham need is speculation over their key play maker just before the season starts.

As a result, the Hammers may just be hoping that Sigurdsson does move to Everton, just in case Koeman does launch a bid to bring Lanzini to Goodison Park as an alternative buy.
