Everton are reportedly attempting to sign Andre Gomes from Barcelona.

Scheniderlin came in for criticism over his performances last season, with his attitude often questioned.
And if Gomes was to arrive, then there would be serious questions over where the Frenchman would fit in.

Marco Silva is almost certain to pick Idrissa Gueye in his starting line-up, given how suited the defensive midfielder is to his style.
That means Schneiderlin would be the player most under threat by Gomes’ arrival, and it could even seal his exit.

Everton are well stocked in central midfield, with Tom Davies and Beni Baningime looking like promising prospects.
Schneiderlin is unlikely to want to stick around at Goodison Park, just to be kept in reserve, and the club surely won’t keep him as a back-up option, considering he is on a £120,00-a-week contract (Daily Star).
And if Gomes does join, it may spell the end of Schneiderlin’s time on Merseyside, which may not be too disappointing to many Everton fans.
