The agent of Arsenal striker Lucas Perez has said that his client wants to leave the club this summer due to frustration at a lack of first team opportunities.

Perez started just two Premier League matches for the Gunners after signing from Deportivo La Coruna in 2016 and now could be leaving the Emirates Stadium after less than 12 months.

“The idea is to be able to play for another club,” the forward’s agent, Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle, was quoted by Sky Sports.

“We want to leave and Arsenal already know. Do you know anyone who is happy but has no opportunities?”

There is potential for Perez to leave on-loan, but whether permanent or not should Everton be looking to rekindle their interest in the 28-year-old?

The Liverpool Echo reported last August that the Toffees were pipped to the signing of the Spaniard by Arsene Wenger, with director of football Steve Walsh a known admirer of the former Deportivo man.

Perez scored seven goals in 21 appearances for Arsenal in 2016/17 – a decent return for a player mainly used as a substitute, although admittedly that did include a Champions League hat-trick against Basel and three more coming against Sutton United and Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup and EFL Cup respectively.

With the future of Romelu Lukaku uncertain and Enner Valencia heading back to parent club West Ham United, perhaps now would be the time to for Ronald Koeman to sign a striker that almost became an Everton player this time last year.
