Everton and Tottenham Hotspur both wanted to sign Moussa Sissoko last summer.

According to a report in L’Equipe today, Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be thinking of selling Moussa Sissoko for €20 million.

Sissoko moved to Tottenham from Newcastle United last summer in a £30 million deal, but the transfer has not worked out.

The French midfielder has struggled to make any sort of impact at White Hart Lane, and his game time has been limited.

When Sissoko moved to Spurs, Everton had wanted to sign the French international – but he turned down a move to Goodison Park.

However, the Toffees may have more luck if they were able to move for Sissoko in the summer.

Tottenham bought Sissoko at a point when interest was high in the midfielder, as he had impressed during Euro 2016.

However, after Sissoko’s poor season, there is highly likely to be less competition to sign him.

As a result, Everton could save themselves a considerable amount of money, as Sissoko’s price tag has dropped this season.

Koeman’s comments from earlier this month also suggest that he has not been put off by Sissoko’s poor season, as he feels that the 27-year-old simply hasn’t been given enough chances.

“We tried also to sign the player and he chose Tottenham, but he is not really involved in many of the games,” Koeman said to the Liverpool Echo.

“I don’t know but it was a big signing.

“You ask Pochettino why he is not involved, I don’t know.”

Sissoko’s arrival at Everton would likely be a controversial one, as his inconsistency has plagued his time in England.

However, considering Everton were willing to pay £30 million just a year ago, and Koeman remains a fan, it would not be too much of a surprise if the Toffees did offer Sissoko a chance to resurrect his career at Goodison Park.
