Everton are reportedly battling Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Doucoure would arguably be an excellent signing for the Toffees, who really struggled to contain Tottenham in the middle of the park in their 6-2 defeat at the weekend.
The Watford star is establishing himself as one of the most impressive all-round midfielders in the Premier League. But that is why Everton are apparently facing some serious competition for his signature.

With PSG in the Champions League and enjoying a spell of dominance in Ligue 1, it would be no surprise if a move to Parc des Princes proved to be very tempting for Doucoure.
But if Everton do indeed miss out on Doucoure to PSG, there is one obvious upside based on recent reports.

The Sun recently suggested that Idrissa Gueye was also on PSG’s wishlist. So missing out on Doucoure would seemingly ensure that Everton are not having to fend off interest for Gueye.
Gueye was definitely missed on Sunday, so keeping him would certainly be a boost.
