If Everton do launch a bid for James Maddison of Norwich City in the near future, as Sky Sports suggest they are planning, they could catch West Ham United off guard.

West Ham have been heavily linked with Maddison in recent times, with the Daily Mail reporting of their interest.

But it appears that Everton could be about to steal a march over Manuel Pellegrini’s side in the race to sign the attacking midfielder, who is valued at £25 million (Sky Sports).

The Toffees are preparing to bid for Maddision as soon as next week, and that could cause complications at the London Stadium.

West Ham are still in negotiations with Lazio over the signing of Felipe Anderson, as the Guardian have reported.

The deal is taking some time to complete, and if it stretches into next week West Ham could have a dilemma on their hands.

Although Anderson appears to be Pellegrini’s first choice, if they continue to wait on his decision, then they could risk losing Maddison too, with Everton ready to bid.

And West Ham may be forced to make a choice between the pair, otherwise Everton could have a free run to snap up the Norwich man.
