Leeds United have been linked with a move for Aston Villa defender Tommy Elphick.
According to a report from the Birmingham Mail, Leeds are rivalling Sunderland and Birmingham City in the race to sign Aston Villa’s Tommy Elphick.
While some Whites fans may look at his turbulent year at Villa Park and worry that the club are making a mistake by targeting the man that BBC Sport reports cost the Villans £3 million last summer, it could be argued that he may be a smart signing.

Thomas Christiansen is struggling for centre-back options currently. And although Elphick struggled with Villa, a move to Elland Road may perhaps prove to be a turning point for the 29-year-old – and his leadership may prove particularly valuable.
For that reason, Leeds may be hoping that Elphick reaches out to one of his former teammates, who currently plies his trade with the Peacocks, to find out about whether to make a move.
Eunan O’Kane was a part of the same Cherries side that went from League One to the Premier League in a handful of years – coincidentally joining and leaving Bournemouth in exactly the same windows as Elphick – so may be able to help tempt the centre-back to make the switch to Leeds.
And with many writing him off after his year with Villa, Elphick would surely arrive fully determined to prove that he is still the calibre of player that captained Bournemouth to two promotions and in the top flight.
