West Ham United have been dealt another injury blow at left-back – with the news that French defender Arthur Masuaku will be out of action for around six weeks after suffering knee ligament damage.
Signed from Olympiakos in the summer the defender came in to provide cover in the position after a similar injury suffered by first-choice in the position Aaron Cresswell.
He is due back in action after the international break and West Ham will be pleased about this, but should they be considering bringing in a free agent who can play the role as well?

One name that might be of interest is Peruvian international Juan Manuel Vargas.
Vargas is currently a free agent who has 62-caps for his country and has been a star in Italian football, in particular at Fiorentina.
Last season he performed well at Real Betis in La Liga and is currently looking for a new team, with Torino said to be interested.

Vargas would be a good signing as he is not only a left-back option – but can also play as a left-winger.
An exciting and experienced player he would fit in to the Slaven Bilic style of play at the London Stadium.
Perhaps Vargas could be a shrewd move.
