Glasgow Rangers defender Myles Beerman is out of contract at Ibrox at the end of the season.

It seems to become more and more imperative that Rangers enjoy a brilliant summer with each passing day at the moment, with the Ibrox side once again grabbing the headlines for all the wrong reasons following their Scottish Cup semi-final defeat.
The Scottish Sun reported that Kenny Miller was set to be sacked while Lee Wallace would be suspended due to what went on in the dressing room after the Hampden Park showdown. And while Miller has not been sacked, the pair’s future with the Gers appears to be very much up in the air with Rangers confirming in a brief statement on their official website that both men have been suspended.

The Scottish Sun’s report suggested that Wallace may well have played his final game for the club. And while that would be a terrible end for a player who has committed so much of his career to trying to get Rangers back at Scotland’s top table, it may perhaps present an opportunity for Myles Beerman.
Transfermarkt shows that Beerman is out of contract at Ibrox at the end of the season, and with the youngster not featuring for the first-team this term, he may fear that his days with the club are numbered.

The 19-year-old has featured regularly for the development side in recent weeks so he may be a player that comes into Graeme Murty’s thoughts with Wallace unavailable for the time-being.
If Wallace has indeed played his last game for the club – and there is no reason to believe that that may be the case at all at this stage – Beerman will not receive several first-team chances. The club captain has not played since September and Declan John has been first-choice for much of the campaign.
But if Wallace leaves, handing Beerman an additional year on his contract may be a good backup plan for the Gers. He boasts some experience in the senior side, so he may be ready to be an understudy for John if they are unable to strengthen in that area of the pitch over the summer.
Whatever went on and whatever happens from this point, it has been a dark day for Rangers. And while he may have wished the chance to shine could have come in different circumstances, perhaps Beerman’s situation may be one to keep an eye on as decisions are taken over Wallace’s future.
