Glasgow Rangers are looking for two or three more players, so what chance the long-term targets concluding Pedro Caixinha’s summer business?

As reported by the Scotsman, Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha is looking to sign two or three more players before the transfer window slams shut later this summer, so what chance Graham Dorrans and Jamie Walker concluding the Gers’ business until January?

Caixinha has been quick to add plenty of new faces to his squad, but the trickiest negotiations could involve two players who may cost a combined £2.3million.

As reported by the Edinburgh Evening News earlier this month, Rangers have failed with two bids for Walker, with Hearts valuing the winger at £1million. While the Express claims Dorrans wants to quit Norwich City following the Gers’ £1.3million bid (plus add-ons).

The problem in both cases is that Rangers are targeting players who are vital to their current sides and Hearts and Norwich will only cash in if they get the best possible deal.

The Dorrans move seems only a matter of time if he truly wishes to switch to Ibrox, while Rangers know exactly how much it will take to prise Walker away from Hearts.

With those two players in place, Caixina would have a squad capable of challenging Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership, and while Gers fans will not be anticipating too much too soon, it looks set to be a very exciting campaign under the Portuguese boss.

Such has been Rangers’ speed in the transfer market to date – in part due to their participation in the Europa League qualifying stage – that if it takes a while to get their final few deals over the line, no one will be panicking.
