Derby are interested in Bristol City’s Aden Flint and signing him ahead of Brighton and West Brom would be a massive coup.

Derby County have become the latest team to join the race for Bristol City’s Aden Flint, with the Sun on Sunday (January 28, p59) claiming that their £6m bid for the defender has been rejected.

The report outlines that West Bromwich Albion are also in the race for Flint, who could be allowed to leave Ashton Gate if his £10m valuation is met.

This comes after Sky Sports reporting Brighton and Hove Albion had an offer for the same amount also turned down by the Robins.

Flint has been in fine form for Lee Johnson’s men this season, even scoring an impressive seven goals in all competitions to help the Bristol side to fourth in the Championship currently and the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup – where they lost to Manchester City over two legs having beaten Manchester United in the quarters.

As a result interest in the 28-year-old has come from the Premier League, which is why it would be such a coup and show the sort of progress Derby are making were they to sign the centre-back ahead of Brighton and West Brom.

The Rams are second in the table themselves despite not playing at the weekend and Flint could well join them with the belief that they too will be in the top flight by next term.
