Rangers have been linked with appointing ally of Dennis Bergkamp.
Dutch legend Dennis Bergkamp could finally end up at Rangers this summer, more than two decades after nearly joining the club as a player.
Former Ajax boss Marcel Keizer is interested in the manager’s job, his agent told The Scottish Sun.
Bergkamp coached alongside Keizer for Ajax’s reserve team and then the first team, before the manager was fired and he too left late last year.
Bergkamp came close to signing with Rangers as a player back in 1995, with What Culture reporting how the Gers showed him around Ibrox when he was ready to leave Inter Milan.
Arsenal pipped in to beat Rangers to his signature, and Bergkamp went onto inspire Arsenal to three Premier League titles, scoring more than 100 goals for the Gunners during an 11-year spell.
Bergkamp’s post-playing career has solely consisted of coaching at Ajax, and under Keizer, he his reputation has grown. Last year he was linked with the vacant Swansea City job, Wales Online reported.
If Keizer was appointed at Rangers as a replacement for Graeme Murty, then it is likely he will try to bring Bergkamp with him.
And that will be a big boost to the profile of Rangers, and their young players, who could thrive under the tutelage of the Dutch legend.
