Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero has refused to rule out returning to the Old Lady’s ranks before he hangs up his boots.
Alessandro Del Piero is one of Juventus’ greats and the veteran striker has revealed that he would never discount the possibility of coming back to Turin.
Del Piero netted 208 goals in 513 appearances for Juventus and became a club talisman between 1993 and 2012 after joining the Old Lady from Padova.
The World Cup winner left Juventus for Australia to play for Sydney FC and has netted roughly a goal every other game there.
“My love story with Juventus could never end,” Del Piero told Rai Sport in an interview that will be broadcast this evening. “My experience at the Bianconeri could never be cancelled out.
“Would I ever return to Juventus? It isn’t impossible. In my career I have never closed the door to anything so you can work out whether I would on Juventus.”
Del Piero also gave his assessment of the current Juventus team under Antonio Conte who seem to be running away with the Serie A title.
“The first word that comes to mind when I think about this Juventus team is awesome,” he enthused.
“They began quietly and Roma were putting together a run of 10 consecutive wins but at the end of the first half of the season the numbers were tremendous. Conte is the motor but it is also down the players and the club as a whole.”
