The out-of-favour Celtic midfielder was linked with Fulham but Moss’ move to Norwich City could give them an advantage.
‘Director of Football’ is the buzzphrase of the hour. Nottingham Forest fought tooth and nail to appoint Frank McParland, Celtic snapped up Lee Congerton while Rangers have been linked with almost every transfer guru under the sun.
And, according to the Daily Record, Norwich City are also on the verge of employing a designated recruitment specialist. Currently Head of Development at Celtic, David Moss helped bring the likes of Virgil Van Dijk and Victor Wanyama to Scotland while also playing an influential role in convincing Moussa Dembele to turn down interest from more illustrious leagues elsewhere.
However, after Celtic appointed Lee Congerton as Head of Recruitment earlier in the week, Moss looks likely to depart with Norwich identifying him as the ideal candidate to be their new Director of Football.
And you wonder whether he will use his connections north of the border to make an immediate statement signing at Carrow Road. Languid yet technically gifted, Israeli midfielder Nir Bitton arrived at Celtic on Moss’ watch but, with just 14 league starts to his name under Brendan Rodgers, it would be no surprise if he was forced out at the end of the season despite claiming that he would rather remain at the club.
The Scottish Sun reported in January that Fulham were interested in signing Bitton for just £2 million but Norwich, armed with an excellent recruitment specialist who knows Bitton well, could jump to the front of the queue.
Graham Dorrans and Alex Tettey have not been at their best this season and The Canaries could benefit from having a player with Bitton’s superb passing range and eye for the spectacular.
