Could Darren Moore’s exit give Celtic hope over keeping Oli Burke?

Celtic loanee Oliver Burke has made a promising start to life at Parkhead, and has previously spoken of wanting to stay with the Hoops.

After such a difficult spell at West Brom, Oliver Burke arguably deserves a lot of credit for the way that he has settled in at Celtic since arriving on loan during the January transfer window.

The Scotland international has scored four goals for the Hoops in the Scottish Premiership, and is looking much more like the player that tempted both RB Leipzig and the Baggies to part with big-money fees to sign him – the latter broke their club record with a £15 million move for the 21-year-old (via BBC Sport).

Burke has previously spoken of his desire to potentially stay at Celtic beyond the summer when he is scheduled to return to the Hawthorns (via Daily Record).

But Darren Moore made it clear soon after Burke left that the plan was for the winger to get some minutes under his belt ready for a second go at West Brom next season (via The Scottish Sun).

However, while Celtic may have feared that their chances of keeping Burke were bleak, perhaps there is now some hope that the two clubs could discuss a further deal following the news that Moore has left West Brom.

The Baggies are not going to want to lose Burke given the money that they spent on him. But if the next manager comes in and decides that the youngster does not suit his style or that he needs funds to get the signings he wants through the door, then perhaps Burke’s future will become a little more uncertain.

He is one of the players who could arguably command a significant fee given his age and potential, so if the next manager does decide to make big changes, perhaps a sale could be something that is considered.

With Moore rarely using Burke during his tenure, there is every chance that the wide-man could actually return in a better position following the manager’s exit. But it is still a development that should certainly tempt Celtic to seek an update in case there could now be scope for a summer move.
