Could Daniel Levy take risk to increase Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of landing Anthony Martial?

Tottenham Hotspur are said to want Anthony Martial from Manchester United, but the deal seems too expensive at the moment.

If Anthony Martial really does want a move to Tottenham Hotspur, as reported by the Daily Telegraph, then Daniel Levy could have a risky strategy to play this summer.

Martial reportedly wants at out at Manchester United, with Spurs thought to be one of his more likely destinations.

Mauricio Pochettino is a massive fan of the French international, and would like to add him to Tottenham’s squad.

However, United are said to be demanding £100 million for the forward by The Sun, which puts him well out of Spurs’ price-range.

Tottenham now may have to consider a new strategy to land Martial, and it may be that Levy takes on a more risky plan.

Martial’s contract at United is due to expire next summer, but the Red Devils have a one-year option in their favour.

United are sure to activate that clause, but next summer Martial will only have a year left on his contract.

If Martial has not penned a new deal by then, or moved elsewhere, then Jose Mourinho’s side would be forced to sell, putting Tottenham in a position of power in the negotiation.

Spurs, of course, would be gambling that no other team come in for Martial in the meantime.

They would also have to hope that Martial doesn’t have a change of heart, and decide to stay at Old Trafford.

But it may just be that Tottenham’s best chance of getting Martial is to remain patient and wait until next summer to strike.
