Celtic’s Jonny Hayes hasn’t had a look-in this season.

It’s been a rotten first 18 months at Celtic for Jonny Hayes.

The Irishman joined the Hoops for £1.3 million from Aberdeen in the summer of 2017, but an injury suffered in December saw him miss the rest of what was already a pretty mediocre season last term.

Hayes has barely had a look-in this season, managing just two Scottish Premiership appearances.

But is his luck about to change?

One of the reasons why Hayes hasn’t featured a lot this season is because, well, Brendan Rodgers has quite a lot of wide options and simply put, the 31-year-old hasn’t measured up.

That being said, one of those wide options, Daniel Arzani, has just been ruled out for the season with a knee problem and although it’s devestating for Celtic, it might benefit Hayes.

This is a player who was nominated for Premiership Player of the Year in 2017, ultimately losing to Scott Sinclair. In fact, he was the only non-Bhoy to be nominated.

The former Dons winger has plenty of ability and although his route to the first team remains long, it’s not quite as treacherous with Arzani out of the picture.

He still has a lot of competition, but Rodgers is sure to be thinking more about Hayes now than he was prior to the 19-year-old’s setback and the veteran winger needs to remind him of his talent.
