After impressing with a goal in the Champions League, could Christian Eriksen be the latest Spurs star to catch Real Madrid’s eye?
After impressing once again on Wednesday night as Tottenham sunk a full strength Real Madrid side 3-1 at home in the Champions League, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen found himself the latest Spurs star subject to interest from Los Blancos.
Eriksen’s fine start to the season continued against the Spanish giants, scoring the third goal as Spurs ran out 3-1 victors, sending Mauricio Pochettino’s side top of their Champions League group and comfortably into the knockout stages.
The reigning Champions League and La Liga champions have already stoked interest in Spurs talisman Harry Kane this summer, with the club reportedly still keen to bring the club’s top scorer to the Bernabeu (Daily Star), as well as looking to bring midfield wonderkid Dele Alli to the Spanish capital (The Sun).
If Eriksen also started making the column inches in the Spanish capital it would surprise no-one, but disappoint plenty, at least in the UK, with the Los Blancos struggling this season.
After a breakthrough at the start of the campaign, Marco Asensio’s form has faded and with Zinedine Zidane not seeing Isco as the long-term solution to Real’s recent attacking shortcomings, 25-year-old Eriksen could be the perfect option for Zidane’s side and although there have been no formal links between the two parties as of yet, that may change should he keep up his league form for Spurs.
With 13 goals and three assists in 26 games for club and country this year, the Dane is in the form of his life with Spurs, if he keeps it up Daniel Levy will likely have to bat away some of the biggest clubs in the world come the summer.
