Departing Leeds United defender Charlie Taylor is reportedly on Celtic’s radar.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has been quoted as saying by The Scottish Sun that he wants to add just one more new signing to his squad before the Champions League qualifiers next month.
The Glasgow giants have made one signing so far in the summer transfer window. The Hoops recruited winger Jonny Hayes from Scottish Premiership rivals Aberdeen earlier this month.

“There are two players in particular,” The Scottish Sun quotes Rodgers as saying. “Jonny was one and there is another I would hope we can get in.
“Then I just want to get through the qualifiers with the players who have got us through, knowing they are a year better on.
“I also want to just wait and see because I know the market in England and the rest of Europe well. I know how it works.
“It’s later on in the window before players of real quality become available. I want to bring the best possible players into here.”
Could the player Celtic manager Rodgers is talking about be Charlie Taylor of Leeds United? Possibly.
According to The Sun (print edition, page 64, June 24, 2016), Celtic are interested in signing the defender. It was reported that Rodgers wants to secure the services of the left-back before the start of the Champions League qualifiers next month (click here to read more).
Taylor’s current contract with Leeds runs out at the end of the month, after which the Englishman will become a free agent.
Celtic would have to pay the Championship club a compensation fee, but even then, the 23-year-old could prove to be a very good signing for the Glasgow giants.
