Could Celtic’s Scott Sinclair earn a different role tonight?
Celtic have been rocked by the news that Moussa Dembele could miss the next three weeks with a hamstring injury.
The in-form French striker will miss the second-round Champions League qualifier with Rosenborg, and potentially the first leg against AEK Athens.
But Celtic have to dispose of the Norwegian champions first and Rodgers has a dilemma: revert to 4-5-1 and start with Odsonne Edouard, or give the £9 million hitman a partner up front.
If it’s the latter, could Scott Sinclair be that guy?
Speaking to The Glasgow Evening Times, Rodgers raved about Sinclair – a £3.5 million signing from Aston Villa two years ago [The Times] – earlier this month, describing him as ‘super hungry’ to improve after a so-so season last time around.
The Hoops manager also recently claimed that the 29-year-old, who has been used out wide for much of his Parkhad career, can play up front and it’ll be interesting to see if Rodgers tries him out with Edouard.
With Leigh Griffiths also injured, Sinclair is the best and only option if the Northern Irishman continues with a 3-5-2 system against Rosenborg.
