Celtic forward Scott Sinclair has been linked with a move to the Premier League this summer, while the Hoops reportedly want George Baldock.

Celtic are still searching for a new right-back following Mikael Lustig’s departure from Parkhead earlier in the summer. And it appears that one of the names that they are considering is George Baldock.

The Sun reported at the weekend that the £1.5 million-rated Sheffield United star remains on the Hoops’ radar, but Neil Lennon’s men face competition from Stoke City after both clubs missed out on Jack Stacey.

It would be little surprise if the Blades were keen to hold onto the 26-year-old and had no interest in considering a sale for just £1.5 million. So, based on reports from late last month, perhaps Celtic should seriously consider using one of their players to try and boost their hopes of landing the full-back.

It was also The Sun who suggested that Chris Wilder was interested in signing Scott Sinclair as Sheffield United prepare for their return to the Premier League this summer.

Sinclair has had an interesting time with the Bhoys. He was simply outstanding during his first year, but has largely struggled to recapture that form since. His goalscoring record has actually remained extremely impressive, but he has also frustrated the supporters at times.

So perhaps Celtic should be open to negotiating a deal with Sheffield United that would see Sinclair head to Bramall Lane and Baldock move in the opposite direction if they are struggling to convince the Blades to simply sell the defender.

Losing Sinclair would leave a big void ahead of the final weeks of the window. But getting a quality right-back through the door has to be one of the club’s main priorities right now, so discussing some kind of swap deal should perhaps be one option that Celtic consider.
