Reported Celtic target John Park isn’t negotiating with Sunderland, according to a report.

The Daily Mail claimed earlier this week that Celtic had failed to re-hire John Park.

The report said that Neil Lennon wanted him back at Celtic following Lee Congerton’s exit as Head of Recruitment, but that Sunderland were primed to nab him.

But The Sunderland Echo offers differing reports, stating that the Black Cats, in fact, haven’t even held talks with him yet.

If true, the door is still open for a return to Lennoxtown and most fans of the Parkhead club would absolutely love it.

After all, this is the man credited with bringing Virgil van Dijk, Ki Sung-yeung, Victor Wanyama and Tom Rogic to Glasgow during his nine-year stint.

And if Sunderland have no plans to take him then Celtic surely must do everything in their power to bring him back.

Congerton, who has joined up with Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City, did some good work, but quite a lot of his signings flopped. There is no comparison to be made between his work and what Park did on a consistent basis for nearly a decade.
