Celtic goalkeeper coach Stevie Woods has suggested to The Glasgow Evening Times that Craig Gordon could return to action in two weeks’ time.

Gordon has been on the sidelines since January when he suffered a knee injury against Hibernian.

The Scotland international goalkeeper, who has been on the books of Celtic since 2014, was initially ruled for up to three months, as reported by The Glasgow Evening Times.

Celtic goalkeeper coach Woods, though, has now suggested that the 35-year-old former Heart of Midlothian and Sunderland star could return to action in the next two or three weeks.

Woods told The Glasgow Evening Times about Gordon: “He should be two to three weeks to be back into the first team [squad] and have the possibility to be selected.

“He is back in on the training field doing conditioned goalkeeping just now, not full sessions.

“He will start that with me when I got back next Wednesday and that should be the start of his final end stage rehab.”

Return for Old Firm derby against Rangers?

Gordon is the first-choice goalkeeper at Celtic, and Woods’s comments suggest that manager Brendan Rodgers could have him in the team for the match against Rangers next month.

The Hoops will take on Rangers at Celtic Park in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup on April 15.

The return to action of Gordon for the game will boost the Bhoys’ chances of winning the tie and progressing to the final of the Scottish Cup.
