Glasgow Rangers are reportedly hoping to bring Oli McBurnie to Ibrox but are facing competition for his signature.

Unfortunately for the Gers, it appears that getting McBurnie through the door may be no easy task with Leeds United amongst the teams also keen on bagging the 21-year-old’s signature during the coming months after his hugely impressive loan spell in the Championship with Barnsley.

While Rangers are the ones to make a bid, The Scottish Sun also reported in April that McBurnie’s preference would be to join Leeds during this window. So perhaps, the Gers may be hoping that the Whites do not match their offer as there have been suggestions that he would prefer to join Paul Heckingbottom at Elland Road despite his obvious love for Rangers.
Therefore, perhaps Rangers may be hoping that Leeds are the ones to win the race for a player that has also recently been linked with Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic.

When fit, Hernandez has been a lethal goalscorer for the Tigers in the Championship, so it is not difficult to see why Rodgers would seemingly like to bring him to Parkhead.
But Celtic do not appear to be the only team in the running, with the Yorkshire Evening Post reporting that Leeds have put Hernandez – who joined Hull for £10 million – at the very top of their list of striker targets.
Should Leeds end up signing Hernandez, they may perhaps have little desire to get into a bidding war with Rangers over McBurnie – and that may ensure that the Gers put themselves in the driving seat to get the Scotland international to become one of Gerrard’s latest signings.
However, Hernandez’s situation could also perhaps work against Rangers if Celtic end up winning the race for the 27-year-old as the Hoops would have an extremely exciting goalscorer in their ranks while also leaving Leeds considering whether to match the Gers’ bid for McBurnie.
