Glasgow Rangers are reportedly keen to bring Steven Davis back to Ibrox this summer.

It is an intriguing deal for the Light Blues to pursue. Davis has been a fantastic signing for the Saints, but he has been less influential over the last couple of years and there may not be too many fans of the south coast club who fear what letting Davis go will do for their side.

Nevertheless, his connection to the Gers would make him a popular signing and there is no question that he would still be an excellent addition to the club’s ranks, even with the depth they already boast in the middle of the park.
And if Rangers manage to get Davis through the door, perhaps Gerrard will partially have Celtic to thank as the Hoops have arguably helped pave the way for a deal to be done.

If the Saints decide to let the Northern Ireland international leave this summer, it seems likely that their deal to sign Stuart Armstrong has played some part in the decision as Davis was already edging closer to the periphery of the squad and Armstrong’s arrival is perhaps what pushes him closer to the exit.
So perhaps it is entirely possible that it be Celtic’s decision to let Armstrong leave Parkhead that ultimately goes same way to leaving the path clear for Rangers to land one of their targets.
