Celtic reportedly had a scout at a recent League One game, but it was not clear whether they had a specific target in mind.

It was reported by the Independent this week that Celtic scout Mick Doherty attended the League One clash between Accrington Stanley and Barnsley at the weekend – though it was not made clear who the Hoops man was watching or whether he evenhad a specific target in mind.
The Tykes’ 2-0 win at the Crown Ground would have probably escaped the attention of the Parkhead faithful, and reports of the club scouting the game are unlikely to capture the imagination amongst the fans.
But perhaps, one Barnsley centre-back should be on the periphery of Brendan Rodgers’ radar heading into January.
Liam Lindsay has already faced Celtic a number of times during his career having come through the ranks at Partick Thistle before heading to Oakwell in 2017.

The 23-year-old is developing well with Barnsley. The Daily Record reported during the last January window that Brighton were interested in bringing him to the Premier League and were considering a £6 million bid for the youngster.
When Rodgers considers what areas of his side that he would like to strengthen in the winter, he may well decide that bolstering his options at the back is a priority.

It seems odd to say given that Celtic have conceded one goal in their last five games – and that came against RB Leipzig – but the Hoops perhaps do not have the depth that they would like, especially if they are unable to keep Filip Benkovic beyond this season.
Lindsay is not the finished article and would not get into Celtic’s side right now – if the Bhoys did decide to consider a move – but he would arguably improve the club’s options at centre-back, and has the potential to be a very decent future signing for the champions.
