Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers signed up Alfredo Morelos to a new contract this week.

Alfredo Morelos only signed a new Rangers contract this week, but it might not mean much with regards to keeping him at Ibrox.

According to The Express, Eintracht Frankfurt had a scout watching Morelos in action during Rangers’ 1-1 draw at Hibernian on Friday night.

The 22-year-old has netted 26 goals in all competitions this season, and the closer we get to summer, the more intense the speculation will be.

Speaking to Radio W last month, the Colombian hitman admitted his ambition to represent his country in this summer’s Copa America tournament.

And it seems possible that a certain Carlos Queiroz could play a massive role in whether Morelos stays at Rangers or moves on.

If the Colombia boss – who once managed Real Madrid – does not name him in his Copa America squad, despite his goals, then that would be a clear message to the striker that he isn’t playing at a high enough level.

The South American side face Japan and South Korea later this month and the former Helsinki marksman – who moved to Glasgow for £1.2 million in 2017 [Scottish Sun] – admitted today that he hasn’t heard anything about a call-up to that squad yet [The Scottish Sun].

The Gers might be fighting a losing battle with respects to keeping Morelos beyond this season anyway, because Frankfurt and others will surface, but it may be a lot more difficult if Queiroz snubs him this summer.
