The Aston Villa youngster has impressed in the EFL Cup this season.
Aston Villa may have crashed out of the EFL Cup after a 2-0 defeat to Middlesbrough earlier this week, but there were still some reasons to be positive, most notably another fine performance from attacking midfielder Callum O’Hare.
The 19-year-old featured on three occasions in the competition this season and he proved his class time and again, but could the youngster end up getting the best out of another Villa player in the form of Scott Hogan.
The striker has not had the best time since moving to Villa Park from Brentford, for whom he found the net 21 times in just 36 matches.
A move to Villa looked set to take the 25-year-old to the next level. However he is still to win over the vast majority of his new supporters, failing to score in the league this season and managing just one in 13 outings immediately after his January switch.
He had, however, found the net three times in the cup prior to Tuesday’s elimination, and O’Hare played a big role in that, with his form alongside the much-maligned Villa man suggesting they could get the best out of each other, complimenting each other’s all-round game very well.
The Villa pair proved to be a good combination in the cup and it will be interesting to see if manager Steve Bruce gives them some time together in the league moving forward.
The return of Jonathan Kodjia and the resurgence of Albert Adomah means they are undroppable for now, yet a double substitution of Hogan and O’Hare when Villa need to change things up could work wonders…at least based on early evidence.
