Leeds United are reportedly keen on signing winger Callum O’Dowda this month.

O’Dowda is an exciting talent who has done well since arriving at Bristol City. He has made 15 appearances for Republic of Ireland, and has scored twice and provided three assists in the Championship this term.
It would have the potential to be a great piece of business from the Whites. And there is perhaps one player in Leeds’ squad who would probably be delighted to see O’Dowda join this month.
Kemar Roofe’s final season at Oxford United saw the forward score 18 goals on his way to earning his move to Leeds. Meanwhile, O’Dowda was in the same side and managed to find the back of the net eight times in League Two.

O’Dowda predominantly featured on the wing. But when Roofe was unavailable due to injury, he suggested, in comments reported by the Oxford Mail, that he would back himself to fill in for the forward having led the line on international duty.
So while Marcelo Bielsa will be hoping that he will not need to use O’Dowda in that role if he does join, it does appear that he could provide further depth in that area of the pitch if required.

Leeds actually have a lot of depth up front. But Patrick Bamford has struggled with injury and Bielsa seemed to hint that he possibly saw Tyler Roberts’ future being at number 10 as winger Jack Harrison started the recent FA Cup tie with QPR ahead of him.
It will certainly not be a key factor in their pursuit if Leeds do decide to make a move for O’Dowda. But his versatility could perhaps prove to be another reason why he may end up being a good signing if he does join this month.
