Former Glasgow Rangers boss Mark Warburton is being linked with a job with the Premier League side, so perhaps he may turn to Ibrox for potential targets.

Heading into January, it appears that Rangers could already face a fight to hold onto James Tavernier, with Sky Sports recently reporting that the Gers captain is on Brighton’s radar after a superb spell for Steven Gerrard’s men.
Tavernier has faced criticism over the last couple of years, but is performing brilliantly for the Light Blues this season and is showing the kind of leadership that has been needed with so many changes taking place at Ibrox over the summer.
Brighton are now reportedly weighing up a potential move for the full-back, who was rated at £7 million in the summer (via TEAMtalk). But perhaps it would not be a big surprise if they are not the only Premier League side chasing Tavernier when the January window opens.
The Daily Mirror (29/04; page 62) reported ahead of the summer that Burnley were one of the teams keen on signing the former Wigan Athletic man. And perhaps some of the latest reports on Sean Dyche’s side should give Gerrard reason to believe that they may come calling again.

The Scottish Sun has now reported that the Clarets are considering whether to appoint Mark Warburton as their new technical director. The Englishman has been out of work since leaving Nottingham Forest.
Warburton was the man who brought Tavernier to Ibrox back in 2015, and the defender was undeniably brilliant during their first year working together as the Gers got themselves promoted to the top flight.

With Tavernier looking set to enjoy his best campaign since that season, it would not be a shock if Brighton had competition in the race for his signature in the new year.
Should Burnley appoint Warburton, Gerrard should perhaps prepare himself for a bid from Turf Moor.
