Tottenham are low on options at full-back on tour.

Tottenham’s decision to leave Danny Rose behind for their pre-season tour has stretched their defensive options.

Ben Davies is injured, while Kieran Trippier has been sold. Serge Aurier and Davinson Sanchez are having extra time off due to internationals.

At right-back, Spurs have Kyle Walker-Peters ready to seize his opportunity. On the left, there is no standout option.

This could provide an opportunity for young talented defender Brooklyn Lyons-Foster, who has been included on the tour.

Lyons-Foster, 18, is predominantly a centre-back, but is capable of playing in both full-back roles.

Last season for the under-18s he featured at both right-back and left-back.

One option for Tottenham would be to play Jan Vertonghen at left-back, but a lack of centre-back options makes this tricky.

If Spurs did so, then they could give Lyons-Foster, or Japhet Tanganga a role in the centre.

While central defence is Lyons-Foster’s preference, as a young player you have to take any first team game time you can get, even if it is out of position.

Winger Anthony Georgiou is another option to play at left-back, or wing-back, if Spurs choose to alter their formation.

The Rose decision is a harsh one, and Spurs could sign a left-back to replace him, but until then, there is an opportunity for a young player to seize their chance.
