Arsenal reportedly wanted to sign Celtic attacking midfielder Tom Rogic in the summer of 2016.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has told The Scottish Sun that Tom Rogic can become one of Europe’s best midfielders.

Rodgers, who has worked with quality players such as Luis Suarez and Raheem Sterling, has heaped praise on 24-year-old Australia international attacking midfielder Rogic.

“The magic man is back — what a player, what a player,” Rodgers told The Scottish Sun about Rogic. “He’s an amazing player. I think he can grow into one of the top midfielders in Europe.”

Rogic has been on the books of Celtic since 2013 and is an important player for the Bhoys.

The attacking midfielder has only just recovered from an ankle injury which kept him on the sidelines for four months.

The former Central Coast Mariners star has undeniable quality, and Rodgers could be proved right about him in the coming years.

Rogic was linked with a move to Arsenal back in the summer of 2016. The Glasgow Evening Times reported in May 2016 that Arsenal watched the midfielder in action for Australia against England at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland in a friendly international.

The report also claimed that the Premier League giants had been monitoring Rogic for the past 12 months.

Arsenal could undergo a major squad overhaul in the summer transfer window, and perhaps the Gunners should revive their interest in Rogic.

Rodgers knows what he is talking about, and his huge praise of the Australian should make Arsenal look at Rogic again.
