Having watched the success of Chelsea teammate Jamal Blackman at Sheffield United, will Kasey Palmer pick them ahead of Norwich?

Sheffield United and Norwich City are going head-to-head this summer for the signing of Chelsea youngster Kasey Palmer, according to the Daily Mail.

The report does not specify if the deal they are hoping to broker would be a loan or permanent, although it does state that Palmer is highly rated at Stamford Bridge – suggesting it is likely to be the former.

The 21-year-old was an integral part of Huddersfield Town getting promoted from the Championship against the odds in 2016/17 as a loanee and spent the first half of this season back with the Terriers, before switching to Derby County in January.

Why United could have the edge

A move to Bramall Lane rather than Carrow Road could seem more appealing for Palmer having seen the success of another Blues starlet there in 2017/18.

Goalkeeper Jamal Blackman was loaned from West London by the Blades this term and made 33 appearances in all competitions.

Not only that but under the guidance of manager Chris Wilder the South Yorkshire side were fighting for a playoff place for much of the campaign; something which wasn’t the case for the Canaries.
