Birmingham City have been linked with an exciting move for a player coveted by Premier League Newcastle United.
Birmingham may have spent the last few seasons battling against the threat of relegation from the Championship but they are reportedly ready to take on the likes of Newcastle in the transfer market.
Garry Monk appears to have a different brief next season if some of the Blues’ rumoured transfer targets are anything to go by.

And now Birmingham have been linked with an ambitious move for Chelsea starlet Kasey Palmer who has spent the last two seasons on loan at Huddersfield and Derby County.
Palmer, who played a key role in the heart of midfield for the Terriers as they were promoted to the Premier League, has played for England at all age groups and starred as the Under 21s were crowned Toulon Tournament champions back in 2016.
Now 21, Palmer is hungry to continue to play regular first team football.
Chelsea rate the player highly but believe an imminent first team breakthrough is unlikely prompting Newcastle United to register an interest.
But according to The Daily Mail, Birmingham are serious contenders for Palmer’s signature in a season-long loan move.
“Garry Monk has rekindled Birmingham’s interest in Palmer after they missed out on him in January when managed by Steve Cotterill,” Sportsmail reports.
If Monk can beat Magpies boss Rafa Benitez to the signing of Palmer it would be quite something and given his record in the Championship – he also helped Derby into the playoffs – it would point to a brighter future ahead at St Andrews.
