Aston Villa reportedly want to sign the Burnley centre-back.

If rumours are believed, Aston Villa want to sign Burnley centre-back Ben Gibson.
Team Talk claimed on Sunday that Aston Villa, along with Sheffield United and Norwich City, were interested in signing the 26-year-old.
Gibson cost the Clarets a cool £15 million last summer and it looks like the Villans might be earmarking plan-b options in the event that Tyrone Mings cannot be re-signed.
The Birmingham Mail reported on Sunday that Dean Smith’s side would begin talking with Mings and Bournemouth about a permanent deal, after the 26-year-old established himself as a major fan favourite during his loan in the West Midlands last season.
But the longer it goes without Mings being back at Villa, the more unlikely it might be and it’s only natural for Smith to shortlist alternatives, perhaps like Gibson.
Smith has already got one centre-back through the door after bringing Kortney Hause back to Bodymoor Heath, but after releasing Tommy Elphick, and considering James Chester has serious injury problems, Villa probably need a couple more.
And the more names on Smith’s shortlist, the less susceptible the club will be if a permanent deal for Mings can’t be arranged.
They’re in the Premier League now, mixing it with the big boys again, and they can’t afford to put all of their eggs into the one basket.
