The Tottenham Hotspur left-back may get the chance for a prolonged run in the team this month.

With Danny Rose potentially out for a month with an ankle injury (as reported by the Sun) fellow Tottenham Hotspur left-back has a big chance to prove he has a long-term future at White Hart Lane.

Rose is the undisputed first-choice in his position and some of Davies’ recent performances have left a lot to be desired.

When you factor in the ongoing interest in Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon (as reported by the London Evening Standard) the next few months could determine whether Spurs move for the talented teenager or stick with Davies as back-up to Rose.

At 23, the Welsh international should be playing week in, week out, but as second-choice left-back at Tottenham he has managed only eight league appearances this season and it would be no surprise to see him move on in the summer.

The alternative is that he finally proves his worth after sporadic showings of brilliance mixed with sub-par performances, and Rose’s absence will allow him to play anything up to six matches spanning three competitions.

An away clash with Liverpool later this month could be the biggest test for Davies and his showings in February may just determine whether or not he will remain a Tottenham player next season.
