Tottenham Hotspur seem to have a knack of bringing through talented strikers in recent years.
Harry Kane is, of course, the most famous example, while the likes of Troy Parrott and Dane Scarlett have been touted for big things as well.
The next player on this conveyor-belt of talent is seemingly Jamie Donley, the 17-year-old, Northern Irishman has been hyped to an unbelievable degree so far in his young career, and Spurs certainly hope he’s the next big thing.
Interestingly, according to Alasdair Gold on his YouTube channel, Spurs have been using Donley has more of a midfield player than a striker this season as they look to flesh-out his skillset and give him more experience.

Donley being used in midfield
Gold shared what he knows about this young man.
“Jamie Donley scored a beauty for the U18s the other day. He could be a very good player if he keeps going as he’s going. He could do with a loan, but I’m intrigued to see how he and Will Lankshear work as a partnership in the youth ranks,” Gold said.
“Donley has been playing as more of a midfielder rather than the striker he is, so I think they’re trying to flesh-out his skill set and his experience.”
Learning
While Donley is a natural striker, playing in the midfield is the quickest way to learn the fine points of this game.
As a centre midfielder, you’re involved in almost everything, you contribute in the defence and going forward and as a young player who is looking to smooth the fine edges of your game, that’s the best position to be playing.
It remains to be seen where Donley ends up settling when he eventually breaks into senior football, but gaining experience in the midfield certainly won’t hurt his chances of developing into a top player.
