Aston Villa boss Dean Smith is said to be keen to bring in Said Benrahma from Brentford.

Aston Villa may still have a trump card to play in any negotiations for Said Benrahma with Brentford in the form of Scott Hogan.
Villa are thought to be looking to offload Hogan this summer, and the striker is very well known at Brentford.
Hogan’s best form of his career came with the Bees, and that led to Villa signing him.
The front-man has struggled since making the switch to Villa Park, and it means that a was deal could suit all parties.
Villa do have funds to spend, but at that sort of price, Benrahma looks a major gamble.

Dean Smith’s side’s best chance of getting the Algerian may be to offer Hogan in a potential part exchange deal.
Villa would likely have to fund a sizeable chunk of Hogan’s wages if he was to move to Brentford, but that would be worthwhile if it led to a player of Benrahma’s quality arriving at Villa Park.
And Villa should give serious consideration to using Hogan in the negotiations, as that may well tempt Brentford into doing a deal.
