The Tottenham Hotspur ace would be an outstanding signing for Arsenal.
According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham are planning somewhat of a clear-out this summer, and Arsenal could take advantage of their bitter rival’s alleged willingness to sell one of their key men.
Transfers between the two north London rivals are rare to say the least, with Sol Campbell being the most famous player to move from one club to the other.
During his time with the Gunners he was perceived as a hate figure by Spurs fans, but he proved that it is a move that is possible to make, with the correct mentality.
The Daily Mail claims that Victor Wanyama is one of the players who Tottenham are willing to sell this summer, for somewhere in the region of £50 million, and Arsenal should attempt the unthinkable by bringing him to the Emirates.
The Kenyan is exactly the type of player who the Gunners need. He is powerful, aggressive and uncompromising, and would add a certain level of bite to Arsenal’s midfield that they have desperately lacked in recent years.
Wanyama would be the perfect addition to the Gunners’ engine room by providing cover for their back-line and adding that ball winning quality that he has displayed so consistently for Spurs.
The 26-year-old joined the Lilywhites from Southampton in the summer of 2016, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of just £11 million, so selling him for £50 million would represent a tidy profit for Daniel Levy and co.
If the north London club are offered their asking price in full for the Kenya international, it will be extremely hard to turn down, especially considering the cost of their new stadium move.
Whether they would contemplate selling Wanyama to Arsenal, though, is another matter entirely, but it should be an avenue that the Gunners explore nevertheless.
